(KNSI) – Waite Park City Council is expected to approve a proposal Monday night to use the firm Flaherty and Hood to lobby the state legislature for assistance to pay for Phase II of the Ledge Amphitheatre project.

The fees would total $17,500, split evenly in two installments. The first would be in January and the second in April. Flaherty and Hood would help draft the necessary legislation and find authors to sponsor the bills.

Officials will seek $8 million, which includes money for new restrooms and concession stands, purchasing surrounding land and paving additional parking lots, and add features to make the site usable year-round.

The council will also approve paying C&L Excavating for completing the east parking lot. The project came in slightly overbudget, running just over $5,000 above the estimate ($196,715.60 versus the $191,698 originally projected).

The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m.
