(KNSI) – Thursday marks the annual Give to the Max Day in Minnesota.
Give MN Executive Director Jake Blumberg says the 24 hour marathon event is a massive boost to nonprofits across the state. “Give to the Max Day is in its 14th year celebrating generosity supporting 1000s of Minnesota nonprofits and schools. Nearly a quarter billion dollars has been donated through Give to the Max Day since its first year, and it has supported over 10,000 organizations across the State of Minnesota.”
Last year, donors gave a record-breaking $34.3 million to almost 6,500 organizations. Blumberg says any amount will help.
“Many of Minnesota nonprofits and schools are small community run volunteer run organizations, which means even a small donation from one individual can make all the difference in their ability to pursue their mission.”
Officials say charitable giving across the country increased by 4% last year, but it’s not keeping the same pace as historically high inflation rates.
Out of the thousands of organizations participating in Give to the Max Day, nearly half reported experiencing an increased demand at the end of 2021. And 39% rely on Give to the Max as their primary fundraising campaign.
