(KNSI) – Pickleball players can get time on the court and help out a good cause at the same time.

St. Cloud is holding a Pickleball Toy Drive on December 4th, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Whitney Senior Center. Park and Recreations Programmer Steve Krueger explained how it works. “Come on up to the Whitney Recreation Center. We’ll have six courts going with free play. Just bring a new unwrapped toy for a child. Or, to be honest with you, most of the pickleball players give monetary donations.”

He says pickle-ballers will have the place to themselves. “This one is on a Sunday, which is normally a day that the rec center is closed. So, basically we donate the gym and the pickleball players come and play.”

St. Cloud Parks and Recreation has held a toy drive every year since 1998. Over that time, more than 18,000 toys and $18,000 has been donated. This year, for the first time, the toys will go to the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree Program.
