(KNSI) – St. Cloud State University has been awarded two grants for workforce development totaling $540,000 from Minnesota’s Department of Employment and Economic Development.
The school will team up with a pair of local industrial companies for skills-based training. The program is first aimed at workers already employed by Dubow and EssilorLuxottica, with the secondary objective of building up the next generation of employees.
Lastly, SCSU will partner with St. Cloud Technical and Community College and Ridgewater Community College of Willmar to expand the programs so they can be used by other central Minnesota businesses.
The school’s Center for Continuing Studies regularly tailors training programs of this kind. Dubow makes apparel and home goods while EssilorLuxottica has five different eyeglass labs that build lenses, including the well-known Transitions.
