(KNSI) – Saint Cloud State University’s annual homecoming opens with Husky Spirit Day. Offices and residence halls will be decorated throughout campus today and a kick-off event is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. at the Atwood Center.

Several fall sports are competing at home this week, including cross country, women’s volleyball, men’s and women’s soccer, and women’s hockey. The marquee matchup is men’s hockey, ranked eighth, against #2 Minnesota State.

Puck drop is 7:30 p.m. Friday. The following afternoon, Huskies Fan Fest starts at 3:00 with live music from a stage in front of the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center. The HoneyBadgers begin performing at 4:00.

There are plenty of social and campus events as well. Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. a bonfire will be lit outside Holes Hall. The alumni association and several university groups host ceremonies or socials on Friday. The School of Public Affairs/Criminal Justice will be celebrating its 50th anniversary.

Beginning Friday at 5:00 p.m. and running all day Saturday, the planetarium inside the Wick Science Building is showing movies, including a tour of the night sky and programming on dinosaurs and volcanoes. The full calendar is available here.
