(KNSI) – The Miller-Carlin Funeral Home has won a prestigious award for the third time.

Funeral Directors Bill Carlin and Nate Nordmann accepted the Pursuit of Excellence honor last week at a national convention in Baltimore, Maryland. Miller-Carlin was one of two funeral homes from the state that received the distinction.

To be a Pursuit of Excellence winner, funeral homes have to exceed standards in a variety of categories. Facilities that are innovative and meet the unique needs of individual families are specifically highlighted. The award is handed out annually by the National Funeral Directors Association.

The convention occurred less than an hour from Washington D.C., and that gave Carlin and Nordmann a chance to privately tour Joseph Gawler’s Sons, LLC, known as the funeral home of presidents. Gawler’s handled arrangements for Abraham Lincoln and his son Willy, John F. Kennedy Jr., and more recently Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush.

They said in a Facebook post it was a chance to learn from the best.
