(KNSI) – The road projects just west of the Rice Bridge in Sartell are moving into the final phase, which involves paving.
Barricades have been in place since July, but several motorists are ignoring them and continuing through the work zone. The problem has been bad enough at times that extra patrols were dispatched to the area to try and curb it.
The Stearns County Highway Department says with repaving it becomes impossible for through traffic to use the stretch. It involves the area where County Roads 1, 2, and 17 meet.
Work is expected to be finished by Halloween, weather depending. Local drivers can still use the affected road, but delays are possible. After paving, crews will still need to add shoulders to the road, seed and landscape, complete striping, and install signage.
