(KNSI) — The suspect accused in an alleged gun-pointing incident that led to a standoff in Waite Park over the weekend has officially been charged.

According to the criminal complaint, a man who was out for a walk early Friday morning said he passed a home on the 200 block of 10th Avenue North when he heard 37-year-old Frank Mario Tamburro Junior yelling out the window. He couldn’t make out what he was saying, so he turned around. When he was in front of the house, he says Tamburro came outside wearing only boxer shorts and was carrying a gun. He told Tamburro he didn’t want a confrontation and turned around to keep walking. He says Tamburro threatened to harm him if he ever walked past the house again.

Police say they went to the door of the home and knocked, but no one answered. Later Friday night, police said they stopped at the house because they saw a light on and a dog in the yard. After knocking, they said no one answered, but then the front door opened, and Tamburro allegedly appeared at the door with a gun in the waistband of his pants and told the dog to be quiet. Police say they knocked again, and Tamburro came to the door and “appeared agitated with his chest puffed up and his fists clenched.” They explained they wanted to talk to him about what happened earlier in the day, but he wasn’t going to talk to them. According to court documents, he repeatedly refused to come outside, also telling police “he would not go peacefully.”

The St. Cloud SWAT team was called in to negotiate with Tamburro, who surrendered after about four hours.

Investigators say they obtained a search warrant and went into the home. There they found a black Marksman Repeater BB gun, 12 rounds of .38 special ammunition, 22 rounds of .9mm ammunition and four gun holsters. Officers also say they found a marijuana plant and marijuana paraphernalia.

Tamburro has been charged with felony threats of violence with reckless disregard or risk.

A search of court records shows Tamburro has been convicted of moving violations, including driving after suspension. He was also convicted of disorderly conduct as part of an assault case in Sherburne County stemming from a fight in March of 2020. In April of this year, he was given a 90-day stayed sentence in that case, and the assault charge was dismissed.
