(KNSI) — A nationwide cheese recall is underway after the discovery of potential Listeria contamination.

Old Europe Cheese, Inc. is issuing the voluntary recall for all of its brie and camembert products, with best by dates ranging from September 28th, 2022, through December 14th, 2022. The products were distributed nationwide, including Fresh Thyme, between August 1st, 2022 and September 28th, 2022. Retailers may have repackaged bulk Old Europe Cheese items into smaller containers and sold this repackaged product to consumers.

Listeria contamination can cause severe and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or older adults and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.
