(KNSI) – Saint Cloud Technical & Community College is holding a groundbreaking ceremony for its Advanced Manufacturing Training Lab.

The event is Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. on the SCTCC campus. The college was awarded $2.5 million from the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration in 2020 to develop the lab. The project is expected to be finished in 2023.

According to a press release, SCTCC will expand and renovate the current space to install state-of-the-art equipment and create a learning environment for students that will mirror real work experience.

The programs used in the lab include computer numerical control, advanced machining, computer-aided design manufacturing, mechanical design, energy, electronics and welding/fabrication.

The lab will help train students for high-quality, in-demand jobs throughout the St. Cloud region.
