(KNSI) – A Michigan man has been arrested after firing a gun at another driver during a suspected road rage incident Tuesday night.

The 23-year-old from Inkster, Michigan, a Detroit suburb, is alleged to have gotten off one shot through an open window of his Ford Escape at a man driving a Volkswagen GTI who lives in the area. The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office says the call came in at about 7:40. The shooting took place while both vehicles were headed west on Interstate 94 in Avon Township, near mile marker 154.

The man who was shot had a wound to the tip of his nose. He reported the incident and was able to safely drive to his nearby house. The sheriff’s office is asking anyone who witnessed what led up to the shooting to contact the department at 320-259-3700.

The suspect was apprehended near Melrose. Sheriff’s deputies were assisted by personnel from police departments in Melrose and Sauk Centre.
