(KNSI) – Lake George plays host to the annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s this Saturday.

Senior Community Engagement Manager Jenny Theis appeared on Tuesday’s KNSI Morning Show, telling Bob Hughes the money raised during the walk remains here and it will change lives.

“The money stays here locally to help with care, support, [and] education.”

Theis says some funds go to aid the Alzheimer’s Association’s toll-free 1-800 number and money is also earmarked for research.

“We have some new drugs that are being sent to the FDA [Food and Drug Administration] probably as early as this month. So, it will be great to see how those go through the FDA process.”

Theis says changes to your diet and a regular exercise routine are other small steps that can yield big results in keeping the disease at bay. Registration starts at 9:00 a.m. with the event beginning at 10:00. The goal is to raise $170,000 from the St. Cloud walk.

Information for volunteers can be found here.
