(KNSI) – The first PGA Tour Canada event on American soil fittingly ended with a player from each country at the top of the leaderboard.
Edmonton, Alberta native Wil Bateman leapfrogged several competitors on the final day of the CRMC Championship to end the weekend runner-up at 24-under par. Costa Mesa, California’s Jake Knapp held on to the top spot. He holed six birdies on Sunday on his way to a 26-under finish overall.
Knapp took the lead on Saturday and was the leader in the clubhouse after 54 holes. He went the last two-and-a-half rounds without a bogey. Bateman entered the final day trailing Knapp by four strokes. He briefly took the lead after a birdie on the seventh hole, but Knapp immediately answered back.
The tournament took place at Cragun’s Resorts in Brainerd. Tom Lehman, at one point the top-ranked golfer in the world, help with the redesign of the Legacy Courses. The event will be returning for at least another two years.
