(KNSI) – The Paramount Center for the Arts fall season gets underway next month and it’s already flying high with a sellout for the Old Crow Medicine Show concert.
First up is the GREAT Theatre with The Play That Goes Wrong. Paramount’s Director of Performing Arts Gretchen Boulka says the production is exactly what it sounds like from the title.
“This is sort of a comedy of errors of a cast that’s going to put on this play, this production, and sort of everything that could go wrong does go wrong. So, it’s a lot of fun to watch. There’s sort of a lot of special effects and tricks that happen.”
The comedy’s run begins Friday, September 8th, and wraps on the 18th. Most of the performances will be on the weekend.
The story isn’t over for the original cast of Jersey Boys. The Broadway smash covered the rise of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, whose signature sound wowed listeners in the 60s and 70s.
The actors are now part of a group called The Midtown Men, continuing to croon timeless hits like December, 1963 and Sherry. They’ll be at the Paramount Center for the Performing Arts in St. Cloud on September 23rd, says Boulka.
“They are Broadway stars and they are from the original cast of Broadway’s Jersey Boys. These are really some top-notch performers that are going to be here in St Cloud. We’re excited to have them at the Paramount. They’ve never been on our stage before.”
Old Crowe Medicine Show won’t be in town until September 30th, but the performance is already sold out. Boulka says that includes the pre-show barbecue as well. She considers the band a big get for the St. Cloud venue.
“They’re traveling all around the country playing festivals and a lot of big outdoor events that have to do with bluegrass Americana music.”
Old Crow Medicine Show began recording in 1998. They were inducted into the Grand Ole Opry in 2013. They are a hybrid of several alternative music sounds. The outdoor meal begins at 6:00 p.m. with the band taking the stage inside at 8:00.
