(KNSI) – The Amazing-est Race takes to the streets of St. Cloud Saturday.
Teams between two and four members will begin and end at Lake George, and an audience is encouraged. They then have to solve clues that will take them to various downtown businesses. At each stop, a challenge will test the competitors. United Way of Central Minnesota Director of Marketing and Communications Sam Switzer says it is the perfect event to help raise the organization’s profile in the community.
“We were really looking for a way to get engaged in our community in a different way. When we have all of these events, we’re always looking at how can we reach out to people who maybe don’t know about United Way and what’s a fun way they can learn about it but also have a good family experience at the same time.”
If you are out for breakfast or doing some early shopping in downtown St. Cloud, don’t be caught off guard. Switzer says you might just wind up with a prized seat for the competition.
“Last year, we did have some people who were having breakfast at Jule’s [Bistro] and that happened to be one of the challenge stops. So they got to see front row the challenge that had to be completed there.”
The race is designed to last three hours. Competitors are expected to be on the course from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
