(KNSI) — Wednesday night marks the finale of Summertime by George! at Eastman Park in St. Cloud.

As always, at the close of the season, the Fabulous Armadillos take the stage for the main event. Going to the Sun opens the evening at 5:00. They are described as “earthy-acoustic-playful-electric-pop-rock rings with the earnest storytelling of Willie Nelson, the lush harmonies of “Pet Sounds”-era Beach Boys, and the spirited instrumentation of Modest Mouse and Arcade Fire.” They were raised in Montana but now call Minneapolis home.

Summertime By George’s Steve Bresnahan says the band may have some surprises up their sleeve.

“Some guitarists might be joining them out of Nashville. A friend of his might be coming in just to play the show.” Bresnahan adds, “there is some exciting stuff happening on stage.”

Bresnahan says, away from the stage but still close to the action, “We’ve got a food court; we have food trucks coming in with all kinds of foods. In the middle of all that this year, we have the Bistro, so you can grab some food and then go in there and have a beverage of your choice. Eastman Tavern is where we serve our beer, wine and our other special treats.”

A summer shandy beer was brewed specifically to be sold at Summertime By George! and this is the last week to get a taste.

Bresnahan says the event is fun for all ages. “There’s a play area for the kids, so the kids get something to do in all of this, and then bring your lawnchair.”

The big screen will be up tonight, so there will be “great viewing from anywhere in the park.”
