(KNSI) — Those who applied for the Frontline Worker Pay Program will learn Tuesday if their applications were accepted.

Emails will be sent to applicants throughout the day Tuesday.

Several reasons one could be denied include the amount of unemployment benefits they received, exceeding the maximum income guidelines, employment eligibility or identity can’t be verified, or someone submitted duplicate applications. If an application is denied, there is an appeal process and 15 days to file an appeal.

The Minnesota State Legislature approved a spending bill that allocated $500 million for 667,000 workers in 15 frontline sectors who couldn’t work remotely during the COVID-19 shutdowns. They were in line to get a $750 check from the state, but more than a million people applied. If more than 667,000 applicants are deemed eligible, the amount of those checks could be significantly smaller.

Payments are expected to go out this fall.
