(KNSI) – If you notice a lot of police activity at a Sauk Rapids elementary school, don’t be alarmed. It’s only a drill.

This year’s training is at Mississippi Heights Elementary School on Tuesday evening. District 47 officials, firefighters and local law enforcement work together on critical incident training at different school venues. One of the scenarios will include a school shooting.

Officials are alerting the public of the exercise so as not to alarm the public. The training has been underway for several years.

In one of the deadliest school shootings in American history, a gunman walked into Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, on May 24th and killed 21 people, including 19 students between 9 and 11 years old.
