(KNSI) – The governor’s office says an online publication’s rankings show Minnesota is one of the best states to raise a family.

WalletHub says Minnesota is the fourth best state to have a baby based on economic well-being, education, and health data. Massachusetts, Vermont and Rhode Island finished ahead of the Land of 10,000 Lakes. South Carolina, Mississippi and Alabama finished at the bottom of the list.

The state was also rated as the fourth best for health care based on cost, access, and outcomes. Finishing in front were Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Hawaii. On the bottom for health care are Louisiana, Alabama and Mississippi.

Minnesota was third in WalletHub’s KIDS COUNT 2022 state-by-state comparison of child well-being.

“I’m proud that Minnesota has been recognized as a top state to raise a family, but we know that Minnesotans continue to grapple with rising costs. We’ll continue to push and lead us towards lower health care, child care and family costs and make Minnesota the best state for each and every child to grow up,” said Governor Tim Walz.
