(KNSI) — The Minnesota State Patrol says three people are dead, and another is clinging to life after a crash Thursday in Kandiyohi County.

According to the crash report, just before 6:00 p.m., a Volvo semi, driven by a 57-year-old man from Raymond, Minnesota, was heading east on Highway 40 as a Lexus SUV, driven by 41-year-old Justin Ecker was going north on County Road 7. The two collided in the intersection. Ecker of Lee Summit, Missouri, was killed. Two of his passengers, 64-year-old Carol Ecker of Kansas City, Missouri, and 39-year-old Jonathan Ecker of Rosendale, Missouri, also died. A third passenger, 35-year-old Jennifer McGinness of Elmo, Missouri, was rushed to St. Cloud Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The state patrol says Justin and Jonathan Ecker were wearing their seatbelts. Carol Ecker and McGinness were not.

The driver of the semi suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital in Willmar for treatment.
