(KNSI) — More than $100,000 will be given to the M Health Fairview Masonic Children’s Hospital thanks to a local financial services company.

The money was raised through the Northwestern Mutual – St. Cloud’s Chip for Charity Golf Tournament. It is part of the company’s 10-year corporate commitment to easing the financial and emotional burdens of families affected by childhood cancer.

Northwestern Mutual’s financial advisors, staff, and others participated in the event, which included a silent auction at Wapicada Golf Club.

“We are always amazed at the compassionate support our financial professionals and staff, their family and friends, and our community show for our childhood cancer program,” said Josh Longnecker, chief talent officer and managing director of Northwestern Mutual – St. Cloud. “Together, we can achieve our goal to raise funds for childhood cancer research and support the families fighting the disease.”

Northwestern Mutual launched its national philanthropic focus on childhood cancer in 2012. With the help of its employees and financial advisors nationwide, the program has contributed more than $45 million to the cause, funding more than 520,000 hours of research.
