(KNSI) — Police departments from across the state are sending their condolences to the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Department after the sudden death of one of their deputies.
Deputy Dallas Edeburn had not returned home after his shift on Sunday, July 31st. As searchers were looking for the 30-year-old between the Arden Hills station and his home, they found him dead in his patrol car. A preliminary autopsy shows no sign of injury or trauma. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the cause and manner of death.
According to a statement posted on the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page, Deputy Edeburn began his career as a Correctional Officer at the Ramsey County Correctional Facility in July 2015. He was hired by the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office in January of 2017. He has worked in Courts, Patrol, Training, and the Violent Crime Enforcement Team. In addition, Dallas was a well-respected member of the SWAT Team. He has received numerous accolades for his tremendous police work, heroic efforts during SWAT operations, and his work to rescue a suicidal young woman who was going to jump from a freeway bridge.
In March of 2021, Deputy Edeburn was seriously injured when his squad car was struck by a stolen vehicle fleeing from Mounds View Police. Dallas rehabbed from his injuries and returned to full duty.
A post on the Benton County Sheriff’s Department’s Facebook page says, “Our sincerest condolences to the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office along with the family and friends of Deputy Dallas Edeburn.”
