(KNSI) – The reopening date for I-94 between Monticello and Hasty has been confirmed.
In a release Thursday afternoon, Wright County says reconstruction of the east lanes will be complete on Saturday, August 13th. The rest area is expected to reopen on the 16th, another sign of normalcy for the final piece of a multi-year project. The Enfield stop has been closed since the spring.
Motorists on I-94 west between Monticello and Hasty will be restricted to one lane overnight for a short period after the 13th. Two-way traffic has been set up on the stretch while the east side is expanded and paved. Crews will be removing the temporary barriers and restriping the road for its normal one-way configuration. As soon as that is complete all three lanes will be available heading west.
Median work will continue until the end of the month, restricting east traffic to two lanes. Once high-tension wire is installed to safely divide the road, all lanes in both directions will be available.
