(KNSI) — Banana Boat is issuing a voluntary recall of some of its sunscreen products after discovering it contains a known human carcinogen.
Banana Boat Hair & Scalp Sunscreen Spray SPF 30 aerosol sprays contain trace amounts of benzene. A post on the website says that to date, Banana Boat parent company Edgewell “has not received any reports of adverse events related to this recall. We are conducting this recall out of an abundance of caution and are advising consumers to stop using the affected product immediately and appropriately discard.”
The recalled products are:
UPC 0-79656-04041-8 six ounce Banana Boat Hair & Scalp Spray SPF 30 with a lot code of 20016AF and an expiration date of December. Also, UPC 0-79656-04041-8 six ounce Banana Boat Hair & Scalp Spray SPF 30 with a lot code of 20084BF and an expiration date of February 2023, and UPC 0-79656-04041-8 six ounce Banana Boat Hair & Scalp Spray SPF 30 with a lot code of 21139AF, and an expiration date of April 2024.
No other batches of Banana Boat products are under the recall and can be safely used.
