(KNSI) — The Council on American Islamic Relations Minnesota Chapter announced Thursday a $5,000 cash reward for information that brings Musa Sabriye’s killer to justice.
CAIR-MN Executive Director Jaylani Hussein says the case has been a weight on the community. “For someone to lose their life in that manner is something that still has a shocking impact on the community here, but also across the country.”
Hussein went on to ask for more agencies to get involved in a measure commensurate with the case’s national profile.
“We understand the Waite Park Police Department is doing the best they can. But we understand also, the resources that the federal government offers is much, much bigger, and much, much wider. We’re also asking for other local law enforcement agencies from St. Cloud, Sartell, and others to come in to assist.”
On May 30th, crews responded to a car fire just before 1:00 a.m. on the 1500 block of County Road 6 and found the vehicle fully engulfed in flames. Once the fire was out, they discovered Sabriye’s body.
CAIR-MN is calling for transparency and is asking the FBI to investigate the incident as a hate crime.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Waite Park Police Department at 320-251-3281 or Tri-County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-255-1301.
