(KNSI) – The Pink Ladies are ready to take over The Ledge Amphitheatre this evening, alongside the Burger Palace Boys?

A production of Grease runs for three nights, put on by the Great Theatre. The show is based on the original play written in Chicago, which differs from the famous movie.

Supporting characters will get more time to shine. Director Kendra Norton Dando says not only are there no T-Birds, some of the music is different too. The opening scene is at a reunion in the 1970s before the crowd is transported to Rydell High. The play ran in New York City for over 3,300 performances and was nominated for seven Tony awards.

Tickets start at 38 dollars and are available online or at the venue’s box office. Norton Dando says the play is adapted to use The Ledge’s huge stage.

She says being outside presents its own set of challenges. It is expected to be hot and there will be ice in the back to help actors cool down in between scenes. You might see fewer leather jackets too.

The Great Theatre put on Cinderella at The Ledge last year and Norton Dando says the production crew learned a lot from that experience. The troupe uses an all-volunteer cast. They began rehearsals in late May.
