Kayak For A Kause Takes To The River In August

(KNSI) – The Zonta Club of St. Cloud is planning an outing on the water on August 7th. Kayak For a Kause Organizer Rachel Thompson says the $95 cost is all-inclusive. Instruction and equipment will be provided by Clear Waters Outfitting before any vessels head down the five-mile route on the Mississippi River. Thompson says it is fun for the whole family.

“There’s a morning wave that goes out at 10:00 and then an afternoon wave that goes out at noon. It’s a five-mile trip, so it is approachable for anybody. You also can do a kayak or a canoe. Perhaps you have a little one in your life that you want to bring along,” she says.

Appearing Tuesday morning with KNSI’s Bob Hughes, Thompson says the group used to do a golf outing but has switched to a new form of outdoor fun.

“When COVID hit, unfortunately…for us, unfortunately, the golf courses got very, very busy so their availability on date and having groups like ours come in got very limited and expensive.”

A link to register is here. Proceeds raised will go to educational efforts to combat sex trafficking. Zonta teams with Anna Marie’s domestic violence shelter and the Terebinth Refuge, among other organizations. A silent auction and more are also planned.
