UPDATE (11:00 p.m. Monday): Xcel Energy has removed the Riverside Park outage from its map. All of the utility’s customers within the City of Saint Cloud now have power again. No update from the Park and Recreation Department, but hopefully the restoration of service will allow the splash pad at Riverside to reopen after being closed on Monday.
Temperatures will moderate some but still remain above average. Thunderstorms early and an expected high of 92, according to the National Weather Service.
(KNSI) – A popular St. Cloud splash pad is not working on one of the hottest days of the summer.
At 8:40 Monday morning, the St. Cloud Park and Recreation Facebook page announced a power outage at Riverside Park. Xcel crews are on-site to fix the issue.
Only three of the utility’s customers in all of Saint Cloud were affected by an outage as of 2:15 in the afternoon. Riverside Park is located in the southeastern portion of the city.
A call to the Park and Recreation department says that Xcel crews have begun to bore a hole in the facility’s parking lot to gain access to the problem. The hope is to resolve the issue today. Above-average temperatures are expected for most of the next two weeks, so a quick resolution remains the goal for everyone involved.
The department has made other adjustments, as well. Monday evening’s youth baseball and softball games are canceled due to excessive heat.
