(KNSI) – St. Cloud has developed a map of its storm drain art program, considered a complement to the Adopt-A-Drain initiative.
Soon there will be a total of nine murals at various points in the city. Teaming with three local artists, the Sauk River Watershed District and the Minnesota Department of Health, the designs are meant to be educational about the importance of protecting area rivers and streams.
They are also site specific. The mural on the Beaver Island Trail sits next to St. Cloud Fire Station Number Five and it features a Dalmatian to reflect that, as an example.
Artists Sarah Drake, James Lunbergh, and Rebekah Glasmann are the primary designers but students from South Junior High, the Promise Neighborhood, and the Boys and Girls Club of Central Minnesota have helped bring them to life.
