(KNSI) — A St. Cloud prescription eyewear manufacturer is closing.

As part of a company-wide consolidation for simplicity, reliability, and sustainability to best serve customers and improve operations, VSP Optics will shutter on July 29th.

Other VSP locations closing on July 29th include Baltimore, Maryland; Charlotte, North Carolina; Olympia, Washington, and New York. A plant in Fort Lauderdale will close on September 30th. The VSP Optics lab in Columbus, Ohio, is currently streamlining its lab network. The flagship labs in Sacramento, California; Tampa, Florida; Hawai’i; and Dallas, Texas will remain operational.

It’s unclear how many local employees will be affected, but employees are being offered the opportunity to relocate to other labs. In an email to KNSI, spokesperson Jace Duval says for those who do not wish to relocate or don’t have the option, the company provides severance pay, career transition, outplacement support, and healthcare stipends.
