(KNSI) – Registration is open for the next Amazing-est Race, hosted by the United Way of Central Minnesota. Director of Marketing and Communications Sam Switzer says teams of between two and four people will have to navigate a series of challenges at various locations in downtown St. Cloud.

The format is inspired by the hit CBS television show. Switzer says the race is designed to last around three hours, but she has learned not to underestimate the competitors.

“Every year these racers, I feel like they outsmart me. But hopefully this year is the year I have them and they’ll need the full three hours to finish up the race.”

Switzer says she has some tricks up her sleeve for competitors when the race starts on August 27th. Up to 50 teams of between two and four members will have to solve challenges at various downtown businesses. Switzer says don’t be surprised if you become part of the audience.

“Last year, we did have some people who were having breakfast at Jule’s [Bistro] and that happened to be one of the challenge stops. So they got to see front row the challenge that had to be completed there.”

Those wanting to cheer on the competitors can best do so at the start and end of the race, both at Lake George. It is scheduled to run from 10:00 to 1:00. A link to register as a competitor is here.
