(KNSI) – Work on Stearns County Highway 1 near the Rice Bridge began today with crews on-site removing trees and installing erosion control devices.
Officials say a detour is already in place and will last for the duration of the project, expected to be until Halloween. The Stearns County Highway Department asks local residents to be cautious when traveling in the work zone. Everyone else is urged to avoid the area entirely.
Sauk Rapids’ Knife River Corporation is the general contractor in charge. The detour route is below.
It is separate from the construction happening in Sartell, also on County Highway 1.
