(KNSI) — More than 900,000 workers in 15 frontline sectors have applied for bonus pay, and there are still two weeks left.
This past session, the Minnesota legislature made available $500 million to those who were employed in industries like child care, courts, corrections, food service, first responders, health care, manufacturing, public health, or public transit. To be eligible, workers must have worked a certain number of hours and meet income guidelines.
The state is making a last minute push to encourage people who have not applied already to do so.
Representative Ryan Winkler says, “the payment isn’t ever going to be large enough to recognize the sacrifice that some people made, but it is our commitment to show that everyone who contributed should get some recognition.”
He says people who stepped up and risked their health and their family’s health to keep everything going need to apply. The deadline is 5:00 p.m. July 22nd.
