(KNSI) – Syd the two-toed sloth is the newest addition to Little Falls’ Pine Grove Zoo.
The animal is still breaking in his new habitat, which has to be kept at a humid 90 degrees to simulate the rainforests where sloths live. They are found in Central and South America.
Sloths eat only leaves that contain low amounts of energy. As such, they have adapted to their diet through their characteristically slow movement.
Pine Grove Zoo is also offering a special experience on Saturdays through Labor Day. Sloth encounters are 20-minute excursions into Syd’s habitat and a chance to interact with him on a more personal basis. The zoo says reservations are going fast.
