(KNSI) — The person who was shot at a movie theater in Oakdale is expected to be OK.

Police say gunfire rang out at about 10:00 at the Marcus Oakdale Cinema. Witnesses unaware of what was happening in the building say the theaters were evacuated by police who came in yelling at everyone to get out.

A 23-year-old Hugo man suffered a gunshot wound from what investigators say was a small-caliber handgun. He was taken to Regions Hospital in St. Paul where he underwent surgery. Police say the suspect fled the scene and no arrests have been made, but add that the shooting was not random. No other victims were found.

The theater will be closed as the Oakdale Police and Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension investigates.

The theater released a statement following the shooting:

“At approximately 10 p.m. on June 28, an individual was shot at the Marcus Oakdale Cinema. Police were immediately called and arrived on the scene in minutes. The injured individual was transported to the hospital; there were no other injuries. This matter has been turned over to police and we are cooperating fully with their investigation. The theatre will remain closed during the investigation, and we will provide an update on our website about reopening as soon as we can.”
