(KNSI) – Sartell is giving electric vehicle owners more places to power up.

The city approved a ten-year agreement with Carbon Solutions Group to install sixteen electric vehicle charging stations in eight locations around Sartell.

The charging stations will be at the Pinecone Central Park, Scheels Athletic Complex, Sartell Community Center, Sartell City Hall, Sauk River Regional Park, St. Cloud Orthopedic Field, Watab Creek Park and Val Smith Park. The stations will be put in place in 2023.

According to a press release, there is a cost of .30/kWh to use the charging station. For example, if an EV battery is 100% empty and can hold a 100kWh battery charge, it will cost the user $30 to get the battery to 100% charged.

The group will install, manage and maintain the stations. Officials say there is no cost to the city. Sartell will be provided with an annual bonus for each charging station. Sartell estimates the stations will bring in around $13,000 a year.
