(KNSI) — Registration for National Night Out events is now open.
On the first Tuesday in August, neighbors are encouraged to lock their doors, turn on outside lights and spend the evening outside. Organizers say the night is designed to meet new neighbors and reconnect with current ones, build neighborhood involvement by bringing police and community together and bring awareness to crime prevention.
Block parties who register could get a visit from local police and fire departments, complete with squad cars and fire trucks to explore. The public is encouraged to ask questions about the departments, the City, or the neighborhood.
This year’s event is on August 2.
As for local cities, St. Cloud, Sartell, and Waite Park are all participating. People can register their parties by clicking the links on their city’s name. The City of Sauk Rapids is taking registration by phone at 320-258-5340.
