(KNSI) – St. Cloud and Minneapolis set new temperature records on Monday.

The high in St. Cloud hit 100 degrees at 3:53 p.m. That beat the previous record of 98 degrees set in 1933. Central Minnesota and much of the state were under a heat advisory or warning on Sunday and Monday.

Minneapolis also broke its old record of 98 degrees set in 1933 when they hit 101 on Monday.

The heat across the state caused parts of roads to buckle. Damage was reported on Interstate 35 near Forest Lake, Highway 169 near St. Peter and Highway 60 near Windom.
