Maus Shoots For Princess Kay Nod in First Competition

(KNSI) – Four Princess Kay of the Milky Way finalists hail from Stearns County. Of those, one is surprised to be in the spotlight. 18-year-old Briana Maus of Freeport has qualified in just her first year of competition. To help overcome a lack of experience she is leaning on her two sisters, both finalists previously, and jumping at every opportunity that presents itself.

“I definitely try to make myself better by going to many different events throughout Stearns County and, just practicing, sharing my story, and being more confident in myself, and everything along those lines.”

Maus says she continues to look at feedback she received at the county level and during a May event that named the finalists for this competition. June is a busy time and fair season is coming up as well, which will help Maus to polish her case to be named Princess Kay.

“Most of the events happen in June. There are some, or multiple, in July. At the Stearns County Fair, I’ll be working at the malt stand.”

Maus says she knows the other Stearns County finalists, in particular twins Hailey and Kallie Frericks of nearby Albany.
