(KNSI) – Zebra mussels have been found on a popular lake near Rockville.
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources says the Grand Lake Improvement District called the DNR about three adult zebra mussels found by lake users on the north and northeast shorelines. DNR staff searched the lake and found 11 more adult zebra mussels in the 650-acre lake.
The DNR says to curb the spread of zebra mussels and other aquatic invasive species, lake users are required by law to remove aquatic plants from boats, trailers and docks. Drain all water and leave drain plugs out when pulling a boat from lake to lake. Throw unwanted bait in the trash. Keep docks, lifts and rafts out of a lake for 21 days before moving them to another body of water.
