(KNSI) – The Federal Building located at 720 West Saint Germain Street in Saint Cloud has new owners. A group led by Twin Cities-based Adam Wright purchased the historic property last week. Wright intends to move Cold Spring’s ArcaSearch in as a tenant by the end of the year. Wright is the chairman and the primary investor of that company.

Wright says he and his wife have had their eye on the Federal Building since last summer. He purchased ArcaSearch in 2021 and quickly realized that there was the potential to need a new facility. Once Wright saw how fast ArcaSearch was growing he revisited the Federal Building.

Wright says the structure, built in 1937, is eyecatching. His wife was particularly fascinated by the restored Depression-era Post Office lobby.

“My wife has a Masters in historic preservation from Columbia and has worked for the National Trust,” says Wright.

ArcaSearch digitizes archival records and has already been serving Stearns County government and several businesses located in St. Cloud. Wright says having a permanent presence in the heart of the region’s largest business district makes sense. The new location will also let ArcaSearch expand the services it provides.

“This facility, with how secure it is and how much extra space we will have, will allow us to take on some business where people want to get those documents out of their office. We can take it and store them while creating more space for those customers.”

Wright says the first order of business is to improve the IT capabilities at the new property.
