(KNSI) — The old St. Cloud City Hall site will soon be an empty lot.

Officials have closed off the area with a fence in preparation for the demolition, which is expected to start in the next couple of weeks.

The site, which once upon a time was a school, opened as the official city hall in 1984 and was used until this year when the new city hall opened in the historic portion of the old Tech High School.

A two-story office building at 4th Avenue and Division Street will house a Bremer Bank, and the area will be known as Highbanks Plaza. A restaurant or coffee shop and retail space will also occupy the property.
