(KNSI) – Midwest Specialized Transportation is folding operations after 55 years. The company was purchased back in 2007, with Anderson Trucking Services buying the entity from owners Al and Anne Koenig. It has been operating as a subsidiary ever since, but ATS says Midwest will be absorbed entirely into Anderson Trucking Services within 60 days.
Eligible drivers are guaranteed placement with ATS or its associated companies. Corporate and office staff currently employed by Midwest are free to apply for any openings within the corporation, but those who can’t find a new role will be released after the transition is over.
Midwest Specialized Transportation deals mostly with odd-sized and unusually heavy cargo. It was founded in 1967. It is the first sign locally that record-high diesel prices are possibly beginning to weigh on trucking companies.
