(KNSI) — The Storm Prediction Center has placed St. Cloud in the moderate risk area for severe weather Monday afternoon.

Forecasters say the threat is greatest after 1:00 continuing through sunset. The threat greatly diminishes after the sun goes down.

All modes of severe weather are possible today, including large hail up to baseball size, gusty winds, and strong long-track tornadoes of EF2 or greater. The National Weather Service says the setup for this system is “rare” and “should be taken seriously.”

Take a minute to think about where your shelter is located and how long it will take you to get there if a warning is issued. Stay up to date with the latest information, especially if you’re outdoors and have a way to get warnings.
