(KNSI) – An intimate ceremony was held early Thursday at the flag pole in front of Saint Cloud Hospital. The Memorial Day commemoration featured a short address from Dr. George Morris. He says that sacrifice binds together military members of every generation, even if they were not killed in action.
“We really think that it connects our current members with the previous ones, and we look forward to doing it again,” he says.
The Veterans Employee Resource Group organized the ceremony. Morris describes its role at the hospital.
“That group is dedicated to helping support our employees that are also either in a service…armed forces right now as a member of the Guard, reserves, or on active duty. And they also are here to help support their family members. So this is our opportunity to really acknowledge that dual commitment to healthcare and service.”
Also in attendance were representatives from local Veterans of Foreign Wars chapters, St. Cloud Mayor Dave Kleis, St. Cloud Fire Chief Matt Love, and Waite Park Police Chief Dave Bentrud.
Morris hopes the ceremony will return next year and potentially become an annual tradition at the hospital.
