(KNS) — Just over a week after it closed, Anton’s Restaurant in Waite Park is back open for business.

The restaurant said on its Facebook page that it’s open Wednesdays through Sundays at 3:30 p.m. The post also showed a fully set dining room, spiffy new chairs in the bar area, and the water back down to normal levels far away from the building and parking lot.

Anton’s closed on Saturday, May 14th, after the Sauk River rose above flood stage, filling the parking lot, the building, and partially submerging the steps to the deck.

In 2019, about 44 people were stranded in Anton’s when an ice jam on the river caused water to back up and suddenly rush into the building during dinner service. As you can see in the above photo, local fire departments deployed boats to get everyone out safely.
