(KNSI) — Two people are under arrest in connection to the overdose death of a 19-year-old woman last month.
April 16th, Samatha Myers of Pennock was found unresponsive at a home near New London. She was pronounced dead at the scene. It was believed at the time that Myers had overdosed on a suspected illegal narcotic. The Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office’s autopsy report shows her cause of death from the effects of fentanyl.
The Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office says May 17th, investigators, members of the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, and the CEE-VI Drug and Gang Task Force executed two search warrants in Willmar related to the case. A 20-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman were arrested and face first-degree manslaughter and third-degree murder charges.
The Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office says narcotics were found at both locations, including over 1,600 counterfeit oxycodone/Percocet pills known to contain fentanyl and over $4,000 cash recovered from the address where the man lived. He is also charged with first-degree drug sales and first-degree drug possession.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
