(KNSI) – The Saint Cloud Area Crush Varsity Baseball Team never found any offensive rhythm Thursday night, failing to take advantage of a complete game from starter Joe Hess. The Brainerd Warriors escaped with a 1-0 win at Saint Cloud Tech High School.

The game wrapped up in barely 90 minutes. Watching the pitchers’ duel it was hard to decide who performed better, Hess or Brainerd starter Isaac Hanson. The two combined for 14 innings pitched, no earned runs, four hits allowed, and 18 strikeouts.

The difference came in the fourth inning. An error by Crush shortstop Jaxon Kenning allowed Cayden Kleffman to reach. He advanced to second on a wild pitch and was singled home with two outs by first baseman Adam Jensen.

In the bottom half of the frame, St. Cloud also got a baserunner courtesy of an error. Brainerd right fielder Riley DeRozier lost a routine fly ball in the setting sun. Hanson never allowed Hank Bulson to move past first, though.

St. Cloud falls to 3-9 in the Central Lakes Conference.
