(KNSI) – The Professional Selling Institute has closed its first deal. Saint Cloud State University is celebrating its first-ever international gift of $1 million, which will help start up the newest wing of the Herberger Business School.

Per Rasmussen and Nina Skage, both of the class of ’86 and now residing in Norway, were on hand Monday to cement the endowment. The institute that bears their name focuses on business-to-business transactions, rather than selling to consumers.

University President Dr. Robbyn Wacker says the Professional Selling Institute is yet another way to prepare students for immediate success as professionals. “As a university we are gaining a well-deserved reputation for graduating professionals with the credentials for virtually guaranteed placement in their field, including sales.”

Rasmussen says it is incredibly valuable to companies for them to get an entry-level employee who comes in with valuable real-world skills developed. “As someone who has a business, I think it’s fantastic when employees already have sales experience when they start their careers.”

Rasmussen and Skage say their personal success is owed in part to SCSU. They believe the education has only gotten better and they want to ensure that progress continues.
