(KNSI) — The Midwest Medical Examiner released the identity of the inmate found unresponsive in his jail cell Sunday morning.
Riley Dormeier of Andover was discovered in his Anoka County jail cell by corrections officials just after 1:00 on May 1st. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The medical examiner says there were no signs of trauma to the 20-year-old’s body. The official cause and manner of death will be released pending toxicology results, which could take six to eight weeks.
Anoka County Sheriff James Stuart released a statement after the incident saying, “this is a tragic situation in which we anxiously await the results of the investigation and the report from the medical examiner. Our thoughts and prayers remain with the family during this time.”
Per protocol, the Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office and the Midwest Medical Examiner are investigating. They will provide updates as they are available.
